FMCSA Announced the Extension of Emergency Declaration No. 2020-002 until August 14, 2020

The declaration applies to all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

On June 8, FMCSA announced that the declaration would be valid form June 15 to July 14. FMCSA’s decision to extend the Declaration until August 14 is due to the continuation of the emergency.

Such actions are necessary for emergency assistance providing. The expansion includes national crises in which immediate transportation of essential supplies is needed. Also, the Extension provides the necessary support in FMCSA carriers and drivers.

The new change reduces some of the cargo operations previously covered by the exemption.

The Extension provides support to drivers who assist in the virus-related emergencies, and is limited to transport:

– Cattle and livestock feed.

– Medicines and medical equipment related to the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19;

– Materials necessary to ensure safety, sanitation, and prevent the transmission of COVID-19 in community, such as masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, soap, and disinfectant.
