From September 30 to October 4, 2020, the TenFourDC Rally in Washington DC will bring together truckers from across the country, according to TenFourDC organizer Fred Bowerman.
All MayDay protest leaders – “CJ” Sergey Karman, Mike Landis, and Rick Santiago received a parking permit on the National Mall on October 2, 2020.
The rally is expected to continue the MayDay protests, during which the drivers were heard by President Donald J. Trump. Also, the protesters, as before, hope to achieve a dialogue with the White House and US Attorney General William P. Barra. Truckers will also lobby US Senators and Congress members on issues that concern 3.5 million American truckers and make them participate in protests.
Besides, the group of protesters seeks to meet with US Secretary of Transportation, Elaine L. Chao. Truckers hope the meeting will lead to faster adoption of FMCSA reforms and driver safety due to the country’s unstable situation.
On September 18, the truckers announced that, as a victory, the agency would form a new group on its Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee (MSCAC), which will include Commercial Vehicle Drivers (CMV).
Elaine L. Chao claimed that the agency wants to receive direct feedback from truckers on proposed initiatives to prioritize and see how decisions and rules affect truckers’ lives.
